UX Audit

A UX audit that tells you what to fix first.

I go through your product or site screen by screen, find where people get confused or drop off, and give you a ranked list of fixes your team can act on.

Office Vibe, UX audit example

The problem

When an audit is the right first step

  1. 01Traffic or sign-ups look fine, but people leave before they pay or activate.
  2. 02You know something feels off, but nobody can say exactly what.
  3. 03You are planning a redesign and want to know what is actually broken first.
  4. 04Your team argues about design changes without a shared view of the problems.

The approach

What the audit covers

  1. 01Key journeys such as sign-up, onboarding, the main task and checkout or upgrade.
  2. 02Clarity of copy, layout and navigation on each screen.
  3. 03Usability basics: feedback, errors, empty states, mobile layout and accessibility.
  4. 04A ranked fix list: what to change, why it matters and how much effort it takes.

What you get

Everything you need to build it.

  • Screen-by-screen review
  • Annotated screenshots of every issue
  • Fixes ranked by impact and effort
  • Quick wins you can ship this week
  • Suggestions for bigger changes
  • A walkthrough call to go through the findings

In more detail

How the work goes.

How a UX audit runs

We start with a short call, or a written brief, about what worries you. It might be a sign-up that loses people, a dashboard nobody uses, or a site that gets visits but no enquiries. I then agree the scope with you: which flows and screens I will review, and what I need from you.

I need access to the product or site, a test account if there is a login, and any analytics, support tickets or user feedback you already have. None of the extras is required. They only help me find the problems faster.

I then go through each screen myself, as a new user would. I note what is unclear, what takes too many steps, and where the layout, the copy or the feedback lets people down. The price and the timeline are agreed in writing before I start, and you pay in parts as each milestone is approved.

What I look at on every screen

Is it clear what this screen is for and what to do next? Is the copy plain and specific, or does it use words only your team understands? Does the layout put the main action where people look first?

I also check the basics that are easy to miss: whether the product tells people what happened after they click, whether error messages explain how to fix the problem, what an empty screen shows a new user, how the screen looks on a phone, and whether text, colour and touch targets are easy to use for everyone.

What you receive

You get every finding on an annotated screenshot, written in plain words, so anyone on your team can see what the issue is and where it is. The findings are ranked by impact and by effort. Quick wins your developers can ship this week come first. Bigger changes follow, with my suggestion for each.

We then go through the findings together on a walkthrough call, and you can ask questions. The audit is a human review, not an automated report.

After the audit

Your team can fix the issues itself, using the ranked list as the plan. If you want my help, I can design the fixes, as a SaaS dashboard redesign, mobile app design or website design. The audit and the design work are separate steps with separate prices, so you decide after you have seen the findings.

Wondering what an audit costs? Read the UX audit cost guide, which shows the price ranges by size of project.

Pricing

What it usually costs.

Every project gets one fixed price, agreed in writing before any work starts. You pay in parts as each milestone is approved. These are typical ranges; your quote depends on the exact scope.

Small

One flow, like sign-up

$500 to $700

Medium

Sign-up plus the main screens

$1,150 to $1,600

Large

The whole product

$2,400 to $3,400

Who it’s for

Teams I usually help.

You work with me directly, with no agency or account manager in between. I work with clients worldwide and usually reply within an hour.

  1. Discover. A call to understand your users, your goals and where people drop off today.
  2. Design. Flows, wireframes and high-fidelity screens in Figma, where you can comment directly.
  3. Build. A clean handoff with components for your developers, or a live site built in Framer or WordPress.
  4. Launch. Final checks, launch support and improvements based on how real users behave.

How much does a UX audit cost?

A focused audit of one or two key flows starts from $500. A review of the whole product costs more. You get a fixed price before any work starts.

How long does a UX audit take?

It depends on how many screens are in scope. The timeline is agreed in writing before we start.

What do I need to provide?

Access to the product or site, a test account if there is a login, and ideally any analytics or feedback you already have.

Will you also fix the issues?

If you want. Many clients use the audit as the plan for a redesign, and the audit fee is a clear, separate first step.

Is this an automated report?

No. I review every screen myself and explain each finding in plain words, with screenshots.

Do you audit mobile apps as well as websites?

Yes. I review web products, dashboards, marketing sites and mobile app screens. The mobile layout of a web product is part of the review.

Do I need a redesign after the audit?

Not always. Some findings are small fixes your team can make straight away. The ranked list shows which problems are quick wins and which need bigger changes, so you can decide what is worth doing.

Do you sign an NDA?

Yes. I sign an NDA before you share a private product or unreleased screens.
